The authors usually obtain 0.3 to 0.5µg of exosomes per 106 dendritic cells in 24 hr (Segura et al., 2005).
Given the lack of details in the literature, it is difficult to say today whether all cell types produce exosomes and at what level, but exosome production seems to be a rather general mechanism, and an average level of production of ∼0.1 µg/106 cells may be taken as a rough general estimate.
